Summer Activity – August 12, 2023

On Saturday, August 12, it was time for our annual Summer Activity. Together with all Webship employees, partners, and children, we set off for an exciting day out!

At around 12:30 PM, our bus was ready to go, taking the entire group to our first destination: the Valleihoeve in Kruisem, where we would warm up our muscles with a game of farmer’s golf.

Surrounded by cows (or at least their remaining organic traces), we made our way from hole to hole. After an intense match, the final score was decided on the fifth and last hole. The last strokes from both teams would determine the winner.

The final verdict: a 45-45 tie, carefully recorded by an impartial jury. Both teams could leave the field with their heads held high!

After a refreshing break—including a visit to the peanut calf (or was it a panda calf?)—we hopped back on the bus towards Harelbeke. Our next stop was the outdoor paintball field at the Provincial Domain De Gavers. While the children, under the professional supervision of Eveline and Jade (huge thanks to them), enjoyed the large playground nearby, the adults geared up for paintball.

In hindsight, we didn’t really need our ‘dirty’ clothes and shoes—we left the paintball field just as clean as when we arrived. Turns out, paintball in Harelbeke looked quite different from what we had imagined:

Long story short—unfortunately, there was a mix-up with our reservation, and we ended up at the wrong paintball field. Since the kids had already been dropped off at the playground, and the correct paintball field was too far away for the time we had left, we decided to take over the local pétanque court instead and teach the locals how the game is really played. Patje and Roger, you were fantastic (and so were the sangrias)!

The final leg of our bus ride brought us back home, where the team from Coup de Feu had already fired up their mobile barbecue to treat us to a delicious feast. As we reminisced about the golf and the paintball (well, at least how fun the paintball field looked), the kids got one last chance to enjoy the bouncy castle.

Thank you all for being part of another fantastic edition—on to the next one!
