Customer Spotlight: Pimlico

In this edition of Customer Spotlight, we visited Carla van Impe, founder of Pimlico. Pimlico was founded in 2009 and offers a wide range of high-quality linen products. The company quickly conquered the Belgian market, then expanded to France, Germany, and the United Kingdom. Today, the company is present in most European countries and is exploring opportunities outside Europe. Pimlico products are easy to maintain and offer endless mix-and-match possibilities. The company does not follow trends but creates products they love while always listening to customer feedback. Pimlico draws inspiration mainly from the English Regency-style houses found in the streets of South London. The designers translate the elegance of these houses into beautiful tablecloths, curtains, and other accessories. By the way, all products are made in Europe!

Pimlico Seeks a Logistics Solution!

Carla saw Pimlico grow year after year. Not only did the number of customers increase, but the product range also expanded every year. On top of that, the demand from customers to be able to buy products online grew louder. Pimlico responded to this call and launched an online store in 2019. The company wanted to focus mainly on expanding its product range and further developing the webshop. However, the growing number of orders led to the need for more time and energy spent on managing the warehouse and shipping orders. To continue growing, a solution had to be found to ease the logistical workload. The solution came quickly: fulfilment!

An External Partner Leads the Way to Webship

To find the most suitable fulfilment center, Pimlico enlisted the help of an external partner. The external partner searched for the best e-fulfilment solution on behalf of Pimlico. After thorough research and many comparisons, Webship emerged as the most suitable fulfilment partner. Moreover, the location was an added advantage. Webship’s warehouse is located in Vichte, near the E17, making it easily accessible when needed.

How Does the Collaboration Between Pimlico and Webship Work?

The start of the collaboration was, of course, a time of adjustment. After years of managing inventory themselves, handing it over required some changes. Fortunately, Pimlico employees were able to follow every action in detail thanks to Webship Online. Webship Online is an inventory management system developed by Webship. The user-friendliness of the system is a major strength, according to Pimlico.

Webship is also growing, and the need for an account manager became greater. This was a great move, as Pimlico finds the creation of a support function with a dedicated contact person to be a fantastic initiative. Carla values having a fixed point of contact who is always available during office hours.

Of course, there are also areas for improvement! Pimlico’s products are stored on shelves, but the overstock is stored on pallet spaces. If no inventory management method (LIFO, FIFO, etc.) is set, the system selects the most logical pick location based on available stock. In some cases, the system will choose products that are stored on pallet locations (overstock). In this case, Carla has to manually update the orders. A possible solution could be to add a preferred pick location. A very interesting suggestion! Thank you, Carla, for the feedback. Our developers will work on this information and explore the possibilities of integrating this feature into our application. In short, Webship is a partner that does everything possible to meet the needs of its customers. If you’re also interested in working with a fulfilment partner, contact Webship at hallo@webship.be.
